New evidence shows children younger than 12 years of age living in a home where second-hand smoke exists, have a 50% higher chance of developing behavioral and conduct disorders, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, and learning disabilities. These new findings can now be added to the list of previously understood negative impacts from SHS including increased risk for sudden infant death syndrome, acute respiratory infections, and more frequent and more severe asthma attacks.
